Emma was having a hard time sleeping and woke up in the middle of the night. She had been having very frightening dreams about her past all week, but it was starting to make her lose sleep, now. She managed to dress herself in the dark and wandered out to the forest, wanting to take a walk to calm herself. She wrapped her tiny hand around her locket and fidgeted with the clasp as she walked, looking up at the stars that shined down through the tree tops, wishing she had someone to talk to.

Adam made his way through the dark forest, looking ahead of himself instead of up at the stars or at his surroundings like those who admired the forest would do. He had been through the forest so much in his time at the school that he had grown use to everything around and didn't feel like admiring it anymore.
His steps slowed however when he heard footsteps just a few feet in front of him. Looking around the dark forest, Adam didn't see anything but he knew something was there. Why else would he have heard footsteps? Spotting some movement up ahead, Adam took off for the side and made his way through the bushes, stopping short when he noticed it was just a lone girl from the school. He rolled his eyes and stepped out of the bush, continuing his walk through the forest.

Emma stopped walking when she heard someone walking behind her. She turned to see a boy she remembered from the school. She dropped her hands, which had been clutching her locket to her sides and gave him a small smile. "Hello." she said, tucking a stand of her blonde hair behind her ear. She hoped that this person was friendlier than the last one she'd met. Because, Emma was starting to doubt that she would even find one friend at this school.

Adam looked at the girl as she spoke and gave her a simple nod, walking past her at the same pace he had been walking in before. He wasn't trying to be mean or anything, Adam just wasn't in the mood to speak at the time and he didn't feel like talking to any unknown girl either. Continuing his walk, Adam looked around when he reached a sort of fork in the forest, trying to decide which way to go.

Emma frowned and dropped her gaze to her shoes as the guy walked past her. She was starting to really hate this place. She wasn't sure if there was something about her, that made people not want to talk to her, or whether it was something else, like...bad timing, perhaps. She sighed and started walking again, quickly reaching the fork in the path that the guy was standing at. She stood still for a moment, not knowing which way she should go, glancing at him briefly before taking her locket back up in her hand.

Adam looked at the girl when she came up on his side and shook his head, taking the path off to the left. He knew it was considered the more dangerous and dark way to go but he didn't care. It would be funny actually to run into something that might actually harm him for once. He looked over his shoulder back at the girl and shrugged slightly, continuing to walk down the path.

Emma continued to stand at the fork between paths, watching him walk down the left one. She took in a deep breath and then let it out in a whoosh. It's now or never... she thought, walking down the same path he'd taken. She jogged up to his side and cleared her throat. "Umm, I know you're probably going to think of me as a nuisance...but if you wouldn't mind...could I walk with you? I could really use the company..." she said softly, preparing herself for a nasty remark or him to laugh at her.

Adam looked at her as she jogged up to his side and shrugged "I don't care" he said simply, continuing to walk down the path. As they walked the temperature around them dropped a few degrees and a cool breeze was blowing through the forest. The trees rustled around in the breeze, making various leaves fall onto the ground. It was getting closer to the time when it was going to snow and everyone around knew.

Emma nodded and shoved her hands into her pockets as the wind picked up, shivering. "Thanks...I'm Emma." she said softly, looking down at the leaf covered ground as she walked, her teeth chattering slightly from the chilly wind that blew through her old sweater.

Adam looked at her as she spoke her name and nodded "Adam" he said wrapping his arms together and crossing them over his chest. He looked up at the leaves as the fell from the trees and hummed softly to himself. He had recently started coming up with a new song. The only problem he was having was coming up with the lyrics to go with the notes.

Emma continued looking at the ground as the wind blew her hair around her face. Small whisps caressed her cheeks as she looked up at him, hearing the humming. She smiled softly and looked back down at the ground before he could see her look at him. "It's nice to meet you." she added softly, fiddling with one of the holes in her sweater.

Adam nodded once in recognition to what she said then turned his head, looking up at the stars as they twinkled brightly in the sky. There were however some dark clouds coming over the mountain but they didn't appear to be enough to worry about. Lowering his head, Adam continued to hum the tune of his new song, thinking of some lyrics.

Emma continued to listen to his humming, shivering slightly in the wind. After a few more minutes of silence she turned her head to look up at him. "Are you a muscian or something? That's very pretty." she commented before tilting her head up further to look at the stars, fiddling with her locket.
